BRUC adds another 946 MW to its portfolio of assets in operation and construction

December 18, 2023.- BRUC has connected 154 megawatts (MW) to the transmission network, bringing it to 1,066 MW in commercial operation. To these operational plants, we are adding 792 MW of assets whose construction contracts have been signed this week. In this way, BRUC now has 1,858 MW of photovoltaic solar energy in operation and construction.

The three plants that make up the Cartago II complex, with an installed power of 154.6 MW, located in the municipalities of Utrera and Alcalá de Guadaira (province of Seville), have just been connected to the transmission network. These plants will generate 307,075 MWh and will avoid the emission of 81,990 tons of CO2 per year

Cocurrentlly, the BRUC team has signed construction contracts for several plants in Aragon and Andalusia totalling 792 MW. These are Cartago B (municipalities of Alcalá de Guadaira, Utrera and Los Morales, in Seville), Gazules (municipality of Alcalá de los Gazules, in Cádiz), Trévago (municipalities of Trévego, Castilruiz and Fuentestrún, in the province of Soria) and Aguasvivas (Moneva, in Zaragoza).

BRUC’s total portfolio amounts to 8,500 MW, of which 8,400 MW are located in the Iberian Peninsula and 100 MW in Japan. Recently, BRUC signed a financing agreement with seven entities for an amount of 600 million euros. This amount guarantees a substantial part of the contributions necessary for the investment in the construction and development of a portfolio of solar photovoltaic and wind generation plants in Spain.

 About BRUC

BRUC is one of the largest and most dynamic renewable energy groups in Spain. Founded by businessman Juan Béjar, the current shareholders are OPTrust, USS and Interogo Holding.

BRUC believes that an energy transition towards a decarbonized economy is urgently required. Part of this transition rests on the development of clean energies, whose contribution to the countries’ energy systems must increase. BRUC’s mission is to generate attractive investment opportunities in the field of renewable energy and manage assets with the aim of contributing to the sustainability of energy supply systems, whilst substantially reducing their environmental impact.

BRUC’s assets are located in Spain and Japan. In the Iberian Peninsula it has 8,400 MW between solar photovoltaic and wind plants, all of them with access granted to the transmission network, while in Japan it manages 100 MW of solar generation. The presence in Japan dates back to the beginning of BRUC’s activity, which identified investment opportunities in a market with regulatory guarantees on income from clean energy generation activity.
