BRUC closes €370 million financing agreement for the construction of 659 MW of solar photovoltaic capacity and its hybridisation with BESS May, 27th, 2026.- BRUC has closed a €370 million financing agreement with Banco Santander and Banco Sabadell. These funds will support the construction of solar photovoltaic power plants with a total capacity of 659 megawatts (MW), as well as their hybridisation with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) adding 1,6 gigawatts/hour (GWh). The financing has been classified as a “green loan”, as the participating banks have taken ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) criteria into consideration. Banco Santander acted as Financial Advisor and Banco Sabadell as Hedge Coordinator. Both banks also acted as green loan coordinators, underwriters, bookrounners and MLAs. The plants whose construction will be financed through these funds are located in the province of Teruel. All of them will operate under Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) signed with tier-on9e offtakers. Once the plants become operational, expected throughout 2027, they will generate enough energy to supply the equivalent annual consumption of 321,000 households and will avoid the emission of more than 358,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere annually. BRUC’s CEO, Luis Venero, thanks the funding entities “for their support and confidence in the business plan, the long-term vision, and the strategy focused on achieving maximum plant efficiency through hybridization, primarily with batteries.” He also emphasizes that “the integration of BESS storage systems in these projects underscores our commitment to providing flexibility and stability to the electrical grid, directly contributing to increased energy independence and offering industry an affordable and sustainable energy supply.” About BRUC BRUC is one of the largest and most dynamic renewable energy groups in Spain. Founded and chaired by entrepreneur Juan Béjar, its shareholders include OPTrust, USS and Interogo. Luis Venero serves as the company’s Chief Executive Officer. BRUC believes that an urgent energy transition towards a decarbonised economy is required. A significant part of this transition depends on the development of clean energy sources, whose contribution to national energy systems must continue to grow. BRUC’s mission is to generate attractive investment opportunities in the renewable energy sector and manage its assets with the aim of contributing to environmental sustainability, substantially reducing polluting emissions, and promoting energy independence. BRUC currently has a diversified renewable portfolio in Spain that includes photovoltaic assets, as well as wind and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects through the hybridisation of photovoltaic assets, with a total capacity of 7,300 MW across assets in operation, under construction and in development.
