BRUC ALREADY PRODUCES 10% OF THE TOTAL PHOTOVOLTAIC SOLAR ENERGY IN ANDALUSIA

  • BRUC and Texla executives explain to the Councilor of Industry, Energy and Mines the development of their investments in the region.
  • BRUC has a portfolio of 3,112 MW in Andalusia, of which 630 MW are already operational.

Seville, September 18, 2024. – On the afternoon of September 17, the Councilor of Industry, Energy and Mines of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Jorge Paradela Gutiérrez, received the President and CEO of BRUC, Juan Béjar and Luis Venero, respectively, to follow the evolution of the renewable energy company’s investments in this community. The meeting was attended by Texla’s general manager, Miguel Montero, and the director of the Andalusia Energy Agency, Natalia Márquez García.

BRUC, one of the main leaders in renewable generation in Spain, has 8,000 megawatts (MW) in operation, construction and development, of which almost 40% are located in Andalusia. It currently has 630 MW of photovoltaic solar energy already in operation, representing 10 % of the community’s photovoltaic energy.

BRUC’s portfolio of assets in Andalusia totals 3,112 MW, of which 630 MW are already in operation, 1,015 MW are under construction and the rest are under development. By the end of 2025 BRUC will have 1,645 MW of photovoltaic solar energy in commercial operation. In addition, the company is developing hybridization projects with wind and storage technology that will add another 1,467 MW.

When all the plants foreseen in the business plan come into operation, BRUC will generate 3,020,900 MWh in Andalusia, equivalent to the electricity consumption of 767,700 homes, which will prevent the emission of 824,705 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere each year.

The projects represent a total investment of 2,260 million euros, of which 1,230 million euros have already been invested. This investment will mean the creation of 1,652 jobs, most of which are located in rural areas.

During the meeting, it was also highlighted that the Don Rodrigo 400 kV node, 100% owned by BRUC, is the largest private renewable generation node in Andalusia, with a peak power of 1 GW.

Juan Béjar, president of BRUC, highlighted the importance of being key players in the energy development of the community: “Andalusia is an example of commitment to the energy transition and the decarbonization of the economy; its leadership facilitates cooperation between the regional administration, renewable energy investors, such as BRUC, and local companies, with a direct benefit in terms of employment, income generation for the countryside, development of cutting-edge industrial activity and, of course, acceleration in the fight against climate change”.

Luis Venero, CEO of BRUC, stressed the need to streamline the process of obtaining the necessary permits to develop, build and connect to the transmission grid a generation plant, “with new challenges related to hybridization and storage regulation”.

Finally, Miguel Montero, CEO of Texla, BRUC’s service provider in the areas of property engineering, environmental management, project management, commissioning and permitting, stated: “At Texla we are proud to be part of the energy development of Andalusia, and to collaborate with companies as relevant as BRUC, contributing our experience and capabilities in projects that not only drive the energy transition, but also generate value for the region and its inhabitants”.
