BRUC starts up the 55 MW Aguasvivas solar photovoltaic plant in Aragon

  • The solar plant can supply electricity to 24,500 homes per year.
  • BRUC’s portfolio in Aragon amounts to 4,900 MW of renewable energy.

September 10, 2024 – BRUC, one of the fastest growing and most dynamic companies in the renewable energy sector, has just connected its 55 megawatt (MW) Aguasvivas solar photovoltaic plant in Aragon to the electricity grid. This is a new milestone in the fulfillment of the strategic plan, which calls for the deployment of 8,000 MW in Spain.

The solar plant, equipped with state-of-the-art technology and an annual production of 96,380 MWh, will make a significant contribution to the supply of clean energy in Aragon. It has the capacity to provide electricity to 24,500 homes per year and thus avoid the emission of 26,300 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. The plant is located in the province of Zaragoza and covers an area of 97 hectares.

This project is part of a portfolio of 4,900 MW that BRUC is developing in Aragon. It currently has 331 MW in operation in the province of Zaragoza, in demographically challenged municipalities. These projects represent enormous benefits for the region, not only in economic terms, but also in the generation of employment, strengthening of the industrial fabric, and in the active fight against depopulation, promoting sustainable development and improving the quality of life of local communities.

The connection of this plant to the grid is not only a further step in the fulfillment of our strategic plan, which guides our shareholders’ commitment to the energy transition through the decarbonization of the economy,” says Juan Béjar, President of BRUC.

We are grateful for the collaboration of the local authorities and all those involved in this project, who have been instrumental in achieving this accomplishment. We continue to work closely with all stakeholders to further advance our mission of generating clean and sustainable energy,” adds Luis Venero, CEO of BRUC.

About BRUC

BRUC is one of the largest and most dynamic renewable energy groups in Spain. Founded by the entrepreneur Juan Béjar, the shareholder is composed of OPTrust, USS and Interogo Holding. Luis Venero is the company’s CEO.

BRUC believes that an energy transition to a decarbonized economy is urgently required. Part of this transition rests on the development of clean energies, whose contribution to countries’ energy systems must be growing. BRUC’s mission is to generate attractive investment opportunities in the field of renewable energies and to manage assets with the objective of contributing to the sustainability of energy supply systems and substantially reducing their environmental impact.

BRUC’s assets are located in Spain and Japan. In the Iberian Peninsula it has 8,000 MW of solar photovoltaic and wind power plants, all of them with access granted to the transmission grid, while in Japan it manages 100 MW of solar generation.
